Privacy Policy

TabReign is a browser extension that helps you manage duplicate tabs, set a custom homepage, and organize open tabs. Your privacy matters.

Data Collection

TabReign does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data with external servers. All data stays entirely on your device and within your browser.

Data Stored Locally

The extension stores the following data using Chrome's built-in storage APIs:

  • User preferences (synced via your Chrome profile): redirect rules, advanced regex rules, custom homepage URL, display settings, and license key.
  • Session data (temporary, cleared when the browser closes): tab visit history and tab activity timestamps for stale tab detection.
  • Debug mode flag (local storage): whether debug logging is enabled.

Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions, used solely for the stated purposes:

  • Tabs / Host permissions: to read tab URLs for duplicate detection and to switch between or close tabs.
  • Web Navigation: to detect when you navigate to a URL already open in another tab.
  • Scripting: to display the redirect prompt and quick switcher overlay on web pages.
  • Storage: to save your rules and preferences.
  • Context Menus: to provide right-click actions for creating rules.
  • Tab Groups: to group tabs by domain when requested.
  • Alarms: to periodically check for stale tabs (if auto-discard is enabled).

License Validation

When you enter a Pro license key, the extension sends only the license key to our validation server to verify it. No browsing data, tab data, or personal information is transmitted during this process.

Third-Party Services

The extension makes no network requests other than license validation. It does not include any analytics, tracking, or advertising code. Payments are processed by Stripe, which has its own privacy policy.

Data Sync

Your rules and preferences are stored using chrome.storage.sync, meaning they sync across your Chrome browsers if you are signed in. This sync is handled entirely by Chrome and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Changes to This Policy

If this privacy policy is updated, changes will be included in a new version of the extension. The "last updated" date above will be revised accordingly.
